Welcome to Latino Life ! We hope this note finds you all in good health and moving forward in God’s Kingdom! We are writing you all to bring you up to date on the work in Colosio (Playa del Carmen), Mexico.
When Latino Life Ministries, Inc. was created, there was a pressing need to finish up work that was left undone by another organization, namely, the completion of the church building and apartment for Pastor Salatiel and his family. We are pleased to announce that the church building is 100% complete! This includes electric, water, propane, siding, roofing, the apartment, classrooms, windows, stair railings and hurricane shutters. We are so thankful to God that he used all of you to supply the funds to enable the Salatiel’s to not only minister in their community but also to have a nice apartment to raise their family in. In addition to the church, we have been able to send 200 bibles, tracts and Sunday school material into the region and supply 100 chairs and bibles to a local work in Austin, Texas. (Iglesia Centro de Amistad). Please view the photo gallery here.
And so, with the original vision of Latino Life Ministries accomplished we are seeking the Lord for next steps. As you are all well aware, our economy here in the United States has been severely impacted by recent events. I myself (Mike) was unemployed for nearly 5 months in 2009. We are grateful to God for his provision here in Omaha, Nebraska. We never anticipated in our wildest dreams that the Letson family would live in Omaha, Nebraska! Yet, here we are. Of course, we never dreamed God would use us to build a beautiful church and home for a Mayan family in the far reaches of the Yucatan, either.
In the light of our current economy we are faced with a decision. Public support has completely ceased for Latino Life Ministries. We are not complaining. The original goal for the ministry has been accomplished, and for this we are grateful. However, needs continue to arise. There is never an end to sick people, or people with dental needs or people without a roof over their head. So, while the decision to close Latino Life Ministries is a difficult one, we cannot continue to meet the needs of people without other people’s support.
Here is what is needed to keep Latino Life Ministries open. We are asking that first and foremost you would pray for the direction of LLM and consider giving $25.00 per month, for one year. If 20 people feel impressed of the Lord to give this amount, it would total $6,000.00 per year. We realize that this is a meager budget for ministry. However, this will enable us to keep our doors open and minister to the needs of the church in Colosio as well as outlying communities.
If you feel you would like to support Latino Life Ministries, Inc., you may send your tax deductible contributions to our Omaha address listed below. We are faced with a difficult decision. In the event that Latino Life is unable to raise support; we will need to consider shutting the doors of this ministry. We want to be sensitive to the Lord’s leading and we covet your prayer support.
Everyone, thank you so much for your past prayer and tangible support! There are people whom you may never meet in this life who have been impacted through your rich generosity!
